Introducing our 150g/5.3 oz specialty gourmet honeys in a beautiful gift box. Ideal as a gift, includes: Beechwood, Dandelion, and Rata honey. Wedderspoon Gold, our gourmet line, is elegantly packaged in glass jars containing raw, nutrient rich honey with potent, naturally occurring properties. Our Rata honey is sourced from the protected Rata tree (Southern rata, Metrosideros umbellata), found in New Zealand’s National Forests. The tree only flowers from early January to March once every 2 years, which makes Rata an extremely rare and fine honey. It has a thick, creamy consistency perfect for drizzling over strawberries or other fruits and adds depth of character to cheese plate pairings. This white-coloured honey has a wonderfully rich aroma and a very unique taste. It contains live enzymes, minerals and vitamins, making it a tasty super food. This bright yellow, raw, unpasteurized Wild Dandelion honey delivers a strong, tangy zing of rich flavour! Delicious on hot buttered toast or drizzled on oatmeal. Sourced from the pastoral grazing country of the remote mountainous regions of New Zealand's South Island, this high quality, thick honey is harvested from uncultivated dandelions. This dark amber honey has a consistency perfect for drizzling over seasonal fruits, pancakes or with your morning Greek yogurt. The new (150g/5.3oz) jar is just the right size to feature on cheese plates as honey softens cheeses’ bitterness and enhances its natural sweetness; try Beechwood with goat or blue cheese for the a unique, rich flavour pairing. Our Beechwood honey is extracted by the bees from the Beechwood trees of New Zealand. Beechwood honey has high levels of antioxidants and is known as a prebiotic. Prebiotics work in synergy with probiotics to maintain healthy flora in the gut, essential for optimal health.
Rata honey often ranges from pearl to blush in colour, falling into the Water White category on the Pfund colour grading system. The colour of Beechwood honey is based on seasonality. Honey produced in the spring is auburn in colour and falls under the Light Amber category in the Pfund colour grading system. Beechwood in the autumn is claret in colour and falls under the Amber category on the Pfund colour grading system. Dandelion honey is clove in colour falling into the Dark Amber category on the Pfund colour grading system.
